BUILT 2019

With Wayne State's student count increasing, the current cafeteria footprint needed to be expanded. So our team designed a building addition to help with this demand. We took the existing architectural features into consideration such as roof lines, windows, and other datums, and we were able to create a building which paid attention to the surrounding context. The client also wanted something that was not more of the same, so our team used dark brick and plenty of glass to give the new building a bit of distinction from the rest of the site. We were able to create an outdoor patio area, keep the current pedestrian path uninterrupted, and better define a large courBy insetting the building 15 feet from the existing pedestrian pathway.
